Preparations for Orthodontic Therapy

Neat teeth, a beautiful smile, a healthy bite, and a perfect profile are gifts that will benefit children for a lifetime. The health and beauty of the child are inherited from parents.

Ⅰ. How to choose the institution and doctor for orthodontic therapy?

Orthodontics is a highly specialized clinical oral treatment. It has high requirements for the doctor's diagnosis and treatment level and the comprehensive conditions of the medical institution. It is recommended that you go to a regular oral medical institution and choose a professionally qualified orthodontist for diagnosis and treatment.

Ⅱ. What is the process of orthodontic therapy?

The fundamental therapy process is:

1. First face-to-face consultation

The orthodontist will check the child's facial and oral conditions and complete the basic clinical examination before orthodontics. These inspections include making a tooth model, taking X-rays, checking the roots, alveolar bones, joints and facial shapes, and taking clinical pictures of the oral and facial conditions before orthodontics. Suppose you have oral health problems such as tooth decay, periodontal disease, and multiple teeth. In that case, you need to be referred to a general dental practitioner for basic treatments such as fillings, cleaning, and extraction.

2. Formulate and discuss the treatment plan

The orthodontist will perform measurement and analysis based on clinical examinations, tooth models, X-rays, photos, etc., and give a diagnosis and treatment plan. At the second visit, the orthodontist will explain the orthodontic treatment plan and plan in detail, combine your actual situation, and conduct full communication and discussion with you, and develop a plan that is unique to you.

3. Wear braces

The orthodontist will wear braces (sticking brackets or wearing invisible aligners) according to the treatment plan and explain the precautions and daily care after wearing braces. During the orthodontic period, regular oral inspections and teeth cleaning are required every 3 to 6 months. During this period, you need to pay attention to keeping your teeth clean and healthy.

4. Routine follow-up

Regular follow-up visits are required at the time specified by the orthodontist. After the treatment result designed by the plan is reached, the orthodontics is completed.

5. Remove the braces and wear the retainer

After the orthodontic threapy is completed, a retainer should be worn to maintain the results of the orthodontic threapy.
